Fitting Body Kits

At Sydney Autobody Smash Repairs, we believe having a body kit fitted or repaired by a professional is paramount. There are a number of mistakes that a rookie often makes and we would hate for you to find yourself in this predicament. Here are a few things to look out for when fitting a car body kit.

All Body Kit Suppliers Are Not The Same

Unfortunately there is no regulation of the automotive body kit industry in Australia, so there are plenty of back yard operators offering sub-standard parts and selling them online. If the price appears too good to be true, it probably is.

When searching for a body kit supplier, it is recommended to find a business that has been recommended to you and has been in the industry for a number of years. Reputation is really important, because you want to be able to trust the person who is fitting the body kit on your pride and joy.

Buying On Price Alone

Since there is a huge range of quality products and suppliers in the Australian market, don’t make your buying decision on price alone. It can cost you a whole lot more to fix a poor fitting, than to get it implemented correctly the first time.

Think about what a poorly fitted body kit will do the value of your car if you want to resell it. Don’t take short cuts as it will always come back to bite you! Get your car’s body kit fitted by a professional and be proud to show it off.

Installing A Body Kit Yourself

There is a romantic notion to install a body kit yourself. If you don’t care about your car’s resale value, then go ahead and knock yourself out. However, if you have not had training in fitting car body kits, and you really care about the car’s value and what your mates think, it is again advised to get a professional to help you.

Fitting A Body Kit After You’ve Painted Them

It makes sense that once the body kit has been painted, taking the parts on and off the car may scratch the paint work! It’s important to do a trail fit of your body kit before it is painted.
